Nissan Motor Stock (7201): Price, Board Talking Points and Outlook
Nissan Motor (TSE: 7201) is a major Japanese automaker, listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime market and allied with Renault and Mitsubishi Motors. It is an EV pioneer — the third-generation Leaf went on sale in October 2025 — but the center of the stock's story as of July 2026 is the "Re:Nissan" restructuring. The year to March 2026 brought a ¥533.1 billion net loss, the second straight large loss, and management guides to a small return to profit of about ¥20 billion for the year to March 2027; the dividend is suspended and the P/B is around 0.23x, far below book value. This page summarizes the board talking points as of July 2026, the business and the EV transition, and how to read the stock.

Board and community talking points
Themes observed on the Yahoo Finance Japan board (7201) as of July 2026:
- Backlash over the new Elgrand's price. A starting price of ¥6.89 million — above Toyota's Alphard — is the current lightning rod, drawing sharp "who is going to buy this?" posts.
- Resignation over the suspended dividend, and design cynicism. Posts take the continued zero dividend with resignation and needle the styling direction.
- A patient bull camp. Others wait for a recovery — "give it two or three years and ¥500, even ¥700, is possible" — and voice faith in e-Power. These are observed views, not our recommendation.
The business and the EV transition
The EV flagship is the third-generation Leaf, launched in Japan in October 2025 with crossover styling, a top-grade range of about 702 km and pricing from roughly ¥4.7 million (about ¥4.3 million after subsidies); the Ariya had a minor change from late 2025 into early 2026. The recurring press verdict is tense — "a highly finished car that is struggling to sell" — and that question is the EV-side talking point.
Bigger than any single model is the Re:Nissan restructuring: 20,000 job cuts, vehicle plants cut from 17 to 10 by fiscal 2027, a ¥500 billion cost-reduction target, and the November 2025 decision to sell the Yokohama global headquarters building. The Oppama plant is scheduled to end vehicle production in March 2028 (it has not closed). On the site's future, talks with Foxconn ended in October 2025; in June–July 2026 there were reports of negotiations to sell the site to US defense-tech firm Anduril and convert it to drone manufacturing — these are negotiations only, with nothing decided. On earnings, the ¥533.1 billion net loss for the year to March 2026 (announced May 13, 2026) was smaller than the ¥650 billion loss the company had forecast in February, and operating results turned positive again in the third quarter. The plan for the year to March 2027 is a return to profit of about ¥20 billion in net income (not ¥200 billion), and the dividend is zero. The management integration with Honda was scrapped in February 2025, but cooperation on next-generation ECUs and software continued into 2026; friction with Renault over governance has also been reported, and no restart of merger talks has been decided. CEO Ivan Espinosa returned 50% of his performance-linked bonus and has flagged a next-generation Skyline and a GT-R revival — for now, management statements rather than delivered products.
How to read the stock
The July 17, 2026 close was ¥329.3 (+0.09% that day). That session saw the Nikkei average fall ¥2,694 on a US-led semiconductor slide, and Nissan edged higher as money rotated out of AI and chip names into autos — a sector-rotation move, not a re-rating, and the two should not be confused. The 52-week range is ¥290.8–466.0. The valuation is unusual: a P/B of about 0.23x is very low against asset value, while the forward P/E of about 57x looks high — common in a first year back to a small profit. Bulls see deep value at a 0.2x P/B with substantial re-rating room if Re:Nissan proceeds as planned. Bears see a value trap — no dividend, two consecutive loss years — that needs evidence of a sales recovery first. This page sets no price target; the next items to watch are Q1 earnings on August 3, 2026 and the outcome of the Oppama sale talks.
Trading tokenized Tesla stock on WEEX
Viewed through the EV and electrification theme, the center of the global EV market is Tesla (TSLA). To own Nissan shares themselves, the standard route is a Japanese brokerage account; WEEX does not list Nissan stock or any product tracking it. The EV and battery theme itself can be traded through WEEX's tokenized Tesla stock — via futures (leverage, long or short) or on the spot market. Tokenized stock is not the underlying share; it is a tracking product that follows the reference stock's price. See the Tesla (TSLA) guide and the WEEX market listings. WEEX offers crypto and tokenized US equities — not Nissan or any other Japanese stock, nor any proxy for them.
