Sakura Internet Stock (3778): Price, Board Talking Points and Outlook
Sakura Internet (TSE: 3778) is a Japanese data-center and cloud company, watched as a flagship of domestic AI infrastructure ("sovereign cloud") on the strength of its "Koukaryoku" GPU cloud. Selection as a Government Cloud provider and a collaboration with Microsoft are tailwinds — but front-loaded GPU capex tipped FY3/2026 into an operating loss. The stock has round-tripped from its March 2024 high of ¥10,980 to about a quarter of that (¥2,783 at the July 17 close), and boards weigh a "cheap" case against a "value trap." This page summarizes the board talking points as of July 2026, the business and AI position, and how to read the stock.

Board and community talking points
Sakura Internet's board text is not directly fetchable, so the themes below are the concerns as reported in the press and reflected in public indicators, observed as of July 2026.
- Is the operating loss "investment" or "deterioration"? The dominant question is how to read the FY3/2026 operating loss — a growth-capex loss (hiring, depreciation, data-center rent) to bulls, versus eroding profitability to bears.
- A Nomura upgrade and a bullish retail skew. On July 14, 2026 Nomura raised its rating to Buy, an observed near-term bull trigger. In a sample week the Yahoo board poll showed about 78.95% "strongly want to buy" — a snapshot that moves.
- The round trip and valuation. The fall from the 2024 high of ¥10,980 to about a quarter divides those who see value from those who see a cash-burning value trap. These are observed views, not our recommendation.
The business and the AI/semiconductor cycle
Sakura Internet (3778) trades on the TSE Prime market and runs IaaS/cloud plus GPU infrastructure ("Koukaryoku"), led by President Kunihiro Tanaka with a March fiscal year-end. The AI story is "sovereign cloud." Sakura was selected as a Government Cloud provider for FY2023 and FY2026 — the first Japanese domestic provider alongside the US hyperscalers. Under METI's critical-cloud program (certified February 2024) it is eligible for up to about ¥50.1 billion in subsidies (part of ¥72.5 billion to five domestic firms, announced April 19, 2024) and has scaled GPU investment toward roughly ¥100 billion, building with over 2,000 NVIDIA H100 GPUs and with GENIAC support.
On April 3, 2026, Microsoft Japan and Sakura announced a collaboration to expand domestic AI-infrastructure options, jointly developing solutions so that "Microsoft Azure" customers can use Sakura's AI compute base. On the numbers, FY3/2026 (results April 27, 2026) delivered record revenue of ¥35.3 billion (+12.4%) but swung to an operating loss of ¥403 million, as talent hiring, depreciation, and data-center rent were front-loaded. Segment growth ran GPU infrastructure +20.3%, cloud +9.4%, and physical infrastructure −7.2%. FY3/2027 guidance is revenue of ¥45 billion (+27.5%), operating profit of ¥1.5 billion, and net income of ¥850 million — a return to profit.
How to read the stock
Sakura has done no stock split since its 1-for-4 in August 2015, so the March 2024 high is directly comparable to today. The stock peaked at ¥10,980 on March 7, 2024, at the AI-datacenter mania, then fell hard and traded rangebound over the past year. In 2026 it set a low of ¥2,467 (April 2) and a high of ¥3,960 (April 21), and in July went from ¥3,050 (July 1) to ¥2,783 (July 17, down 4.9% that day) — about 75% below the 2024 peak, a genuine round trip rather than a split artifact.
Bulls point to the sovereign-cloud moat (Government Cloud plus about ¥50.1 billion of METI subsidy plus the Microsoft/Azure tie-up), GPU demand, and the guided return to profit in FY3/2027. Bears note thin-to-negative margins during heavy capex, the round trip from ¥10,980 to about ¥2,780, hyperscaler competition, and the drag from capital intensity and depreciation. Note that Government Cloud "selection" does not guarantee future revenue. This page sets no price target. Q1 FY3/2027 results are expected in late July or early August 2026 (confirm the date on company IR).
Trading AI-theme exposure on WEEX
The AI-infrastructure theme Sakura embodies shows up globally across AI names. To own Sakura shares themselves, the standard route is a Japanese brokerage account. On WEEX you can instead trade USDT-M perpetual futures referencing AI names: contracts referencing Anthropic (ANTHROPICUSDT, up to 20x) and OpenAI (OPENAIUSDT, up to 50x) both listed on April 14, 2026, alongside perpetual futures referencing AI names such as Palantir (PLTR), Nebius (NBIS) and Zhipu (Z.ai). Anthropic and OpenAI are privately held; these are not the shares themselves but derivatives (perpetual futures) that track an exchange-published price index. Perpetual futures are leveraged, move sharply, and can produce losses exceeding your initial margin, so trade only with a full understanding of the risks. See the WEEX market listings. WEEX does not offer Japanese single stocks or any proxy for them, including Sakura Internet or any tokenized version of it; it offers crypto assets and derivatives like these.
