Hong Kong to Provide Approximately 180,000 PFLOPS of Computing Power by 2032 as AI Development Enters Systematic Phase

The Financial Secretary of Hong Kong, Paul Chan, pointed out that artificial intelligence is transitioning from the digital world to the physical world, permeating various aspects of life. The Hong Kong AI+ and Industry Development Strategy Committee has explored key areas such as scientific research innovation, data flow and security, computing power construction, application scenarios, talent cultivation, and funding investment, marking the entry of Hong Kong's AI layout into a systematic phase. It is expected that by 2032, Hong Kong will be able to provide approximately 180,000 PFLOPS of computing power, which is equivalent to 36 times the current total computing power in Hong Kong. Last year, Hong Kong Investment Management Company allocated 56% of its funding across various projects to hard technology, including AI, and promoted the ecological construction of the RISC-V open-source architecture.
