Bank of America Survey Shows Global Fund Managers' Bearish Sentiment on Yen Hits Four-Year High
A survey by Bank of America reveals that global portfolio managers' bearish sentiment towards the yen has risen to its highest level in nearly four years, primarily due to the risks associated with Japan's fiscal and monetary policy outweighing the likelihood of government intervention in the currency market. The report indicates that 40% of surveyed traders are bearish on the yen due to risks from Japan's fiscal and central bank policies, up from 35% in June. Meanwhile, 10% of respondents are bullish on the yen, down from 12% in June. Additionally, data from the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission shows that as of the end of June, speculative leveraged funds held net short positions in the yen at their highest level since 2007.
